Otis Rush

Bluesman Otis Rush pours it smooth:

Left-handed Otis Rush doesn't bother restringing. He just plays his right-handed guitars upside-down.

Lake Peignur: Down the Drainhole!

Lake Peignur, Louisiana, 1980: one of the the most peculiar environmental disasters in recorded history was triggered when a Texaco oil drilling rig sunk a 14" oil probe bit into the lake bed. 1,230 feet below the lake bed, the bit punctured the ceiling of the Jefferson Island salt mine, operated by the diamond crystal salt mine. Shortly thereafter, the entire $5 million drilling rig was sucked down the hole , while the miners quickly evacuated. Like a giant bathtub with the stopper removed, the lake simply went down the "drain". The hole enlarged to a quarter mile in diameter, forming a voracious whirlpool which sucked down barges, 100 foot trees, houses, and various other items. No one was killed. See for yourself:

Rudiments of Wisdom!

Tim Hunkin was trained as an engineer, but went on to become a cartoonist and designer of whimsical museum exhibits. From 1973 to 1987 a series of his cartoons appeared in the Observer (U.K.), and now can be viewed in their entirety on his Rudiments of Wisdom website.

Here's a sampling(click to enlarge):

I also enjoyed this coin-operated machine, "Is it Art?". You submit your sample into the hatch, and the machine inspects it. If its real art, the "expert" nods in approval:

Here's a video featuring some of his other coin-operated machines
